Hello!
I have dumped bios from BX Chipset COMPAQ DESKPRO PIII 500MHz (KATMAI)
I would like to add microcode support for Coppermines and maybe Tualatin to run it in the slocket;)
I can't do it becouse I can't extract the parts of BIOS with CBROM or AMIBCP.
Anyone has any concept for extracting/adding microcode to this special not recognizable by utilities COMPAQ BIOSES?
Check if you have Phoenix BIOS. There is a very nice tool for editing Phoenix BIOSes called "Phoenix BIOS Editor". You can find it here
I suppose that it is needed original COMPAQ Bios utility. The original BIOS is distributed with special tool and the BIOS-file is not 256KB ROM binary file but it has parts
1 file about 192KB
couple of 3KB files with international languages.
Anyone has tried to add microcode to such "terrible BIOS"?
I myself have installed Tualatin into my BX-motherboard without any Bios patches. And it worked correctly. Certainly, I have updated Bios to the latest one. But as regards to patching... I see, it is not nesessary. At least, as the first step of Tualatin installation.
It is Compaq MB with Phoenix BIOS probably.
BIOS Chip is 256KB 5V AMD
I have dumped it with uniflasher but it is unreadable by any tool.
I try to dump using Winphalsh but another problem is - I dont have 256KB .WPH Bios file which is required by this tool to dump bios
Please send any .WPH (256K) if You have any.
I have decompressed Bios update file using COMPAQ ROMPAQ tool included i softpaq.
QuestionHow to ad/extract modules ???
cbrom, AMIBCP , Phoenix Bios Editor 2.18E can't do this(unknown format).
Phoenix Bios Editor 2.18E says BSPSYS not Found!!!
